Timing chain replacement. All in all a very good service provided by Steve and his team. Costly but cheaper than Cotswold BMW, who incidentally, recommend Steve as a trusted mechanic.
Totally trusted, really safe hands.A year ago someone kicked off my wing mirror and a friend recommended I go to Steve. It was about 450 all in to get it fixed, which stang a little, but compared to BMW it was less and it was only fractionally more than non BMW specialist garages.My car needed a full service (which was also over due). I booked it in a few days in advance and the service was carried out promptly for exactly the quoted amount, no surprising additions.Just this week I noticed a fuel leak beneath my car by the gear box. It wasn't leaking much so i booked in for a few days time. I was told that it was unlikely the car was leaking fuel in that area and that its usually aircon condensation. Upon checking the paper work prior to bringing the car in i noticed that my MOT had lapsed. I called in a flutter and spoke with a different member of staff and said that the leak was a worry and i had no MOT. Not only did he calmly tell me it was unlikely to be a fuel leak, for all the reasons his colleague had previously mentioned, but he promptly took my reg and said I was OK to drive from home to the garage.Less than 2 hours after dropping the car off, they called to say that the leak was an easy fix (costing less than 40 all in) but the car had failed its MOT due to a cracked wheel. They sorted out a new wheel and the car was ready to collect in under 24 hours.Garages can be the scariest of places to go by yourself for fear of being swindled, but I really trust these guys. Cars are expensive in themselves but I feel like there have been serval opportunities to rip me off or exploit my limited mechanical knowledge and they never have.I use them as the result of a recommendation and I continue to recommend them. Great service! I have dealt with Steve, and his team, on a number of occasions, to service, and repair, my SAAB convertible over the years. Have always been happy with the work they've done. Recently I had a difficult problem with the DPM filter which caused a lot of trouble even when a replacement unit, then a new sensor, was fitted. Steve and Stuart not only resolved the problem with another unit but also negotiated a refund from the original faulty unit suppliers.I was very happy with the attention and service I received and felt that this garage went 'that bit further' than most to help me and rectify matters.I would highly recommend this garage.
