Gustav Theodore Holst was an English composer, of Swedish/ German decent...his mother was the daughter of a Cirencester solicitor ....and he was sent to Cheltenham gramar school and taught to play the trumpet... which was supposed to help his ashma...an acomplished arranger and teacher. Best known for his orchestral suite The Planets, he composed and arranged large number of other works across a range of musical genres..particularly for trumpets

Excellent resource whether you are interested in Holst or local connections. The Salonika exhibition has been extended till June 2019, which is good news and worth taking in if you are in the area.

so much to see and lots of history like the displays

Small but informative museum. If you are into classical music or just like the Planet Suite then this is worth the effort.

Surprisingly good and interesting. Included kitchen demonstration and tasting whilst we were there. Enthusiastic staff . Nice period detail in the rooms. Worth going to even if you are not a Holst "fan".
